Funky Monkey

First time I have tried this cafe -due to how busy it normally is which says it all really! Managed to get in straight away had a lovely brunch very taste, seeds avocado with smoked salmon and scrambled eggs also was told the tofu is amazing and I wasn't disappointed the tofu is to die for and not being a massive tofu fan! Flavour texture and overall taste was out of this world 🌍 would highly recommend 👍🏻 Also taken away a cheese and jalapeno scone which I cannot wait to dig into 😊

The staff here really make it! Everyone is so lovely. Liam consistently gives great service to everyone, if I had my own cafe I’d try and poach him but I don’t, ha! For years I thought the manager (I’m blanking on her name - originally from Scotland) was the owner, she really looks after the place so well, runs it so smoothly and is always friendly. There are options for everyone including vegans. I love that it’s dog friendly. Also very family friendly for anyone with kids. Great non-pretentious food for decent prices, good portion sizes! I had great service from Heather today who was so happy and smiley, nice to see on such a gloomy day.

Visited later on Saturday afternoon and they kindly held the kitchen open for us whilst we decided. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. My daughter and I had pancakes, protein and apple crumple. They were both delicious and plentiful. My husband had the sour dough with bacon eggs avocado with chilli flakes which he thoroughly enjoyed. The cafe has a really cool vibe and even better, it is dog friendly so we will be returning with our hound! We had a quick chat with the chef/owner who told us it’s been there for 18 years! So in the current climate it holds its own because it has everything, excellent food and drinks, amazing staff and the best ambience. We will be returning as soon as we can.

Great funky cafe that knows the real meaning of doggy friendly.. 🐾❤️ We were made to feel super welcome right from the off by the lovely friendly staff who made us, and our 2 dogs, feel completely at home. Their breakfast was great with quality ingredients cooked and served perfectly. The atmosphere had a perfect mix of ages and groups from boujee coffee millennials right through to local oldies who all wanted great food in fun surroundings, complete with a giant glitter ball. And finally dog friendly, many places say it, but lots don’t really mean it, sitting you in gloomy corners. But here at the Funky Monkey, our dogs were very welcomed and wanted, with lovely interactions from staff and customers. And of course doggy bits on the menu lets you know that your 4 paws are totally wanted.. 🐾🥰🐾

i visited funky monkey yesterday for lunch. i loved the vibe of the café and the food was amazing! i had a vegan sexy sausage bagel which was delicious. the only downside was that we had to wait a very long time for our food (about 45 mins). but we did go at around 2ish on a half-term day, so i would recommend booking if you plan to go at a busy time.
